I had an interesting dream the other night. It started off back in Compton, CA where I grew up until the age of 12. I wasn't at my old house, however... I was next door from said house. I wasn't a kid, either. Usually, when I dream of Compton, I'm a kid. No... I was older than I am now. And the house next door had fallen into dis-repair. The old owners were gone and their son, who was a boy that my brothers and I used to play with, owned the house. He'd grown morbidly obese... Not sure what that means... Anyway...
When I stepped into the house, the dream changed. I was standing in the maternity ward of a hospital. The ward was bathed in surreal, colorful lights and, among the new-borns, was a baby girl with my eyes. The rest of her features came from her mother who wasn't in the dream.
The dream skipped forward again. It didn't jump too far ahead, only a month or two, I suppose. It'd been a while since I'd seen my baby girl, I know that much, so I was rushing to day-care to pick her up. At the day care, the other children basically ran wild. And, in this dream, this little girl had become the focus of my universe...
When I woke up, the name Genevie was stuck in my head. Anyway... The dream inspired a song. I'll record a scratch of it soon. Here are the lyrics, in the meantime:
Somewhere the wild things grow
Some grow with you
Some things they say are meant to be
Sprout from dreams that may come true
You could be the greatest love of my life
Love, my dear, Ill teach to you
Eyes of mine, all else, I suppose
Come from the love, time sees fit undue
Oooh ~ Genevie
Oooh ~ Genevie
Some day, where the wild things grow
Youll grow as wild as youre meant to be
Set from the seed, well sow
My child
You could be the greatest love of my life
Love, my dear, Love my dear, Ill teach to you
Smile back at me, Lips of hers eyes of mine
Teach you right, in time undue
Oooh ~ Genevie
Oooh ~ Genevie
Some day, where wild things grow
Youll grow as wild as youre meant to be
Set from the seed, well sow
My child, Genevie
